About Frances Spiegel

Frances Spiegel holds an Honours Degree in Art History and a Diploma in European Humanities. She specialised in English and Journalism at Brixton College.

Frances has worked continuously throughout her adult life. She has held a variety of positions ranging from Researcher in Local Government and administrator in a residential home for the elderly to teaching disabled people to use computers.

Since 1999, Frances has been a freelance writer specialising in travel and the arts and has contributed to a number of journals including "Letter Arts Review", "The Lady" and many others. She has more than 1,000 articles published both in print and online.

Frances is the author of "Ride the Rocket - Toronto Enabled", a humorous autobiographical guide to Toronto for disabled visitors. It's more than that - it's about meeting unknown family for the first time, getting to know them, and laughing together at some of the amusing situations we got into.

Frances is also a regular volunteer in local residential homes where she can be seen singing, and perhaps even gyrating, to a lively program of Old Time Music Hall numbers and the music of the 1940s and 50s.
